History
Who We Are
Yinhawangka Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (YAC) is the proud Prescribed Body Corporate representing the Yinhawangka People, Traditional Owners of approximately 11,920 square kilometres of land in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Our Country includes the Angelo, Ashburton, and Hardey River catchments, the Kunderong Range, and renowned pastoral stations such as Mount Vernon, Rocklea, and Turee Creek. It has also been a place major mining operations since the 1960’s.
Our Mission
We are dedicated to protecting our heritage, culture, and land while driving positive social, cultural and economic outcomes for our community. YAC champions the rights and aspirations of the Yinhawangka People, fostering a vibrant future through sustainable practices, collaborative partnerships, and cultural stewardship.
What We Do
- Heritage & Culture: Safeguarding sacred sites and maintaining the stories and practices passed down through generations.
- Community Development: Delivering support and initiatives to benefit the Yinhawangka People in education, health, employment, and well-being.
- Land Agreements: Managing land use agreements with stakeholders like Rio Tinto and BHP, ensuring our Country and community thrive.
